⭐ Coming soon – nature-based sensory sessions 🌿
We are currently developing plans for a small outdoor sensory space that will form part of our future aftercare offer. The aim is to provide children and young people with opportunities to continue exploring and developing their sensory preferences through guided, nature-based experiences within a calm and supportive environment.
Our optional nature-based sensory sessions are intended to support both 1:1 and small group experiences, with activities that may include play-based sensory exploration and structured sensory circuits designed to encourage regulation, confidence, participation, and engagement outdoors.
Planned activities such as Forest Architects and Sensory Explorers will aim to support areas including executive functioning, planning, balance and coordination, proprioceptive and vestibular processing, as well as tactile exploration and sensory desensitisation through meaningful, engaging experiences.
Our Approach to Assessment
Our occupational therapy assessments are designed to build a clear, holistic understanding of a young person’s development. We explore each young person’s strengths and challenges, while considering any sensory, motor, or environmental factors that may be impacting meaningful participation, regulation, independence, and educational (SEND) needs.
Each assessment is individually tailored and guided by sensory-informed practice. Sessions are designed to feel comfortable, engaging, and child-led, incorporating a blend of observation, play-based activities, and functional tasks.
We begin with a complimentary 20-minute telephone consultation, offering a relaxed space for everyone to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns.
Further Assessment Information
All of our assessments are conducted using a combination of evidence-based standardised and non-standardised tools, alongside informed clinical reasoning.
Our practice is grounded in extensive experience supporting Neuro-divergent children and those with SEND. We are committed to inclusion, diversity, and delivering compassionate, individualised care tailored to each child.
We are an associate of Heather Wilding Psychological Therapy, @ heatherwildingpsychologicaltherapy.com enabling us to work collaboratively within a wider network of support.
